TCP Port Monitoring

The program allows you to monitor opened TCP ports via the TCP protocol.

The “TCP port” check allows monitoring the availability or unavailability of any TCP ports on a local or remote host. With this check, in particular, you can monitor the performance of network applications. For example, if the database server went down, the application can notify you of that when it finds the corresponding port closed.

Certainly, it's impossible to determine how one or the other service performs just by the port availability flag. That requires more specific tests, which the application can carry out as well. However, in a number of cases, the “TCP port” check can be found quite helpful; for example, for the real-time detection of “Trojans”, “worms” and other unsafe applications. Having the list of TCP ports that are frequently used by such applications (the lists can be found on the Internet), you can configure several checks and monitor those ports. If the application detects that any of the specified ports has opened, it will notify you of that, and you will need to urgently take additional measures on diagnosing the host for potentially dangerous software.
